a5c7b9f00b After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York's criminal underworld. Now known throughout the cityThe Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone. After the murder of his family, Marine veteran Frank Castle became a vigilante known"The Punisher" with only one goal in mind, to avenge them. While I'm not a huge fan of so much violence, I appreciate the non-comic-book realism. The dramatic elements all have their place, and I would have liked a deeper exploration of what soldiers (etc.) face back home, and how they do or do not fit back into civilian life. The characters are almost universally unpleasant but one could argue that that's an interesting approach.

The problem is that every scene is about 3x too long. (Seriously, almost every scene is 5 minutes or longer, which is just forever.) There's just not that much there there, with length masqueradingdepth, so the pacing feels glacial. This would have made a much better 5-part miniseries. Honestly, after Iron Fist, I was beginning to lose faith in Marvel's contributions to TV. However, I just finished the Punisher. All 13 episodes in 5 days. My faith has been restored. Bravo Marvel, bravo. A new standard has been set in the genre, and it is HIGH! I have no idea where the naysayers are finding fault in this. Well cast, well scripted, well-woven plot. 10/10.

I will look forward to season 2!
